OOTD – British Burgundy

20131102_094202Well winter is on it’s way, and so I happily skip to my wardrobe and embrace the wool skirts! HURRAY!!! Go to any thrift shop and have a good rummage through the skirts. And have an open mind about it. I try to find the skirts that look proper granny. Yes. Seriously.

Remember, when shopping for vintage items, even in thrift stores, sizing varies, and most of the time runs small. So if you are normally a size UK 10 – 12, look at vintage skirts and dresses that are size 12 – 16. This is one way to grab a real bargain. Looking at materials is really important, as you want something wooly and warm for the winter. And don’t forget to just TRY. Trying skirts that you even think are hideous sometimes surprise you. You can always take up a hem to make the skirt a better length.20131102_09411020131102_09404620131102_094223Brogues.. this season staple. Yes, embrace the Man-shoe! It took me a while to embrace this trend, mainly because I thought I would look like a flat footed duck wearing shoes like this, but how wrong I was! I completely love these little beauties, and wear them with EVERYTHING. Skirts, dresses, jeans, you name it! They are stylish AND comfortable! (a match made in heaven!!) I think the key is to get a manly shoe that embraces your taste and personality. I am a bit OTT (as if you had not noticed!) so I completely embraced the coloured, shiny brogue. But if you want more understated, go for a matt black or brown. Still functional, still stylish, but just a little bit more YOU.vintage wool skirtWhat I Wore:
